Over the last three years, the work-from-home life has become super popular. We’ve all gone from hardly sitting at the desks in the corner of our rooms to spending a lot of time at them working 9-5.
I love working from home and it’s definitely because I love my setup. I spent a lot of time watching “a day in my life working from home” videos on social media to help me perfect it. The key is figuring out which things are motivating and which things are distracting!
Once you narrow that down, you’ll begin to love your work from home setup too. Whether you’re still in school or working full-time, you’re going to want the best work from home setup products to help you along the way and stay on track with your workload.
This post is all about the best work from home setup products that will help you stay super productive.
BEST WORK FROM HOME SETUP:
1. Desk
Starting off with the basic work-from-home essentials. If you’ll be working at home from 9-5, Monday – Friday, trust me, you will want a designated work space. For about six months, I worked at my kitchen island, which definitely got old. I highly recommend a standing desk if you can afford one, but any desk will do! It is going to help your productivity and give you a place to keep your work life separate from your home life.
2. Desk Chair
A desk chair will make or break your work from home office setup. You definitely want to shop for both comfort and style. Because the chair tends to be the first thing your eye goes to, I highly recommend finding a chair that fits your apartment decorating style. You need to enjoy the space you are working in! If you hate your work from home setup, you aren’t going to feel motivated or like you can do your best work.
3. Standing Desk Converter
Not everyone can afford a fully operating standing desk and that is okay! If you are apartment decorating on a budget but still want the option to stand at your desk – try a standing desk converter! It is one of my favorite work from home setup ideas because it is functional when you need it and can be moved anywhere, unlike a standing desk! If you ever get tired of how it looks on your desk, you can easily store it.
4. Desk Mat
I got this desk mat because the wooden desk in my office felt so big and bland. I wanted something to give me a little pop of color. Even if you choose to go more neutral, a desk mat is the perfect finishing touch to your desktop that can hold your keyboard and mouse.
5. Desktop Organizer
If you are lacking in drawer space but have extra room on your desktop, an organizer is perfect for holding those extra things you need in your work from home desk setup. You can store books, your pen/pencil holder, cute succulents, scissors, or your files.
6. Laptop Stand
Working at a computer all day can have serious implications for your body. One of the best ways to make sure you have good posture throughout the day is to keep your laptop elevated. A laptop stand will keep your screen at eye level. I promise once you start using this, you will notice a difference! Try using a wireless keyboard and mouse with it to be the most comfortable.
7. Walking Pad
These have blown up over the last couple of years and I think they are such a great invention. If I have a day where I’m slammed with work and don’t stand up much, I feel terrible. A walking pad helps get steps in while working which is so great for your overall physical and mental health.
8. Drawers & Drawer Organizers
Having your work from home office setup organized it key for staying productive and motivated in your work. If you have papers and office supplies laying all over your desk, it is going to be hard really focus. A set of drawers and drawer organizers is a great place to keep all of your files and office supplies to make sure your desk is clutter-free.
9. Desk Lamp
I’m not a big fan of working in a dark space. Depending on where your work from home office setup is you may need the extra light. Getting a desk lamp gives you a good decor piece and nice lighting to use to brighten up your work space.
10. Cord Organizer
The best home office setup for productivity is one that is free of clutter. Naturally, a desk is going to have a lot of cords from computers, printers, lamps, and other chargers. Using a cord organizer is my favorite hack to keep all of those cords in one place in an aesthetically pleasing way. Now whenever I look under my desk, I just see this little box, rather than a big knot of cords.
11. Printer
If you’re a paper and pencil girl like me, having a printer is going to be so helpful. It has made my life so much easier because any printables or important documents I need can be ready in seconds, rather than having to have everything digital!
12. iPad & Apple Pencil
I’m not exaggerating when I say my iPad has changed my productivity game. I carry it with me everywhere because my digital planner, favorite productivity app, and content creation tools are on there. If you need something to help you uplevel your organization and productivity, I highly recommend investing in an iPad (or asking for one for Christmas).
13. Blue Light Glasses
I keep a pair of blue light glasses at my desk and in my work bag so that I’m never caught without them. Blue light glasses dim the harsh light from your screens so I highly recommend getting a pair of these if you spend a lot of extended time looking at your home office monitor setup. Over time screens can put a big strain on your eyes so getting a pack of these is a must.
14. Pen & Pencil Holder
I like to have all of my pens and pencils easily accessible. Pen and paper girl, remember? If I need to jot down some notes or make any lists, I can just reach for my favorite pens in this holder. Make sure you grab one that matches your overall home office desk setup decor!
15. Desktop Vacuum Cleaner
This is the coolest invention I have seen for cool home office setups. If you ever eat lunch or snacks at your desk, keeping this on hand is really gonna help keep your desk free from any crumbs. Having a clean space free from any distractions is key for your overall productivity.
16. Wireless Headphones
When I need to be super focused, my wireless headphones help me stay in the zone. I turn on my favorite work from home playlist and block everything out. I also use them for my work calls to make sure that I can hear everything clearly even if my roommate is working from home too. They should definitely be on your work from home equipment checklist.
17. Planners
I absolutely cannot live without my planner. I keep my digital planner on my iPad and my daily plan notepad on my desk so I can keep all my tasks and obligations organized and easy to find. If you want to stay productive and crush your goals, I highly recommend using these work from home setup ideas.
18. Time Management Tool
This tool is my hack for batch working and staying on top of my time management. I love using a timer to help me stay on track and motivated to get work done. Especially the ones I would rather procrastinate. This really helps me stay focused because it almost becomes a competition with myself. If I’ve focused and worked for 60 minutes on something, I’ve met a goal (and I’m extremely goal-oriented). If you have a hard time staying on task during your workday, this tool may do the trick!
19. Mug Warmer
Anyone else hate having to get up to microwave their coffee three times? Not only is this annoying, but it breaks your focus which harms your productivity. Grab a coffee mug warmer (it works for tea too if you aren’t a big coffee drinker) to help you stay on task while still getting your caffeine in.
20. Flowers
Flowers are going to help make your working space the best work from home setup because it brings life into it. These are the best fake flowers that seriously look real. I love having them next to my monitor to make my home office setup look and feel homey and inviting. If you’re going to spend 9-5 in the space, you might as well have nice things to look at.
21. Water Bottle
A water bottle next to you at your desk at all times is SO important. We all know the benefits of staying hydrated, but it really can be difficult to drink enough during the day. There are two things I do to make sure I’m drinking enough water while I work. First, I track the ounces I’m drinking in my phone or in my planner. And second, I have a 40 oz water bottle that I keep next to me on my desk. It is so easy to drink the amount of water I’m supposed to with a bigger bottle.
22. Candle
There is nothing like having a candle going during my work day. If I’m ever feeling stressed or if its a dark and dreary day, lighting my favorite candle helps me refocus and feel more at peace. Candles are a great way to decorate your desk and make your work from home setup smell great too.
23. "Extras"
I always seem to notice how dry my lips or hands are when I’m sitting at my desk. I like to keep a drawer organizer full of extra things like lip balm, hair ties or clips, or hand lotion. It saves me from having to get up and hunt it down. I can keep my focus and take care of myself at the same time.
24. Sweater
I swear by this cardigan from Amazon and keep it sitting on the back of my desk chair. It is one of the best things for work from home setup because if I ever get cold, its right there for me too grab, especially during those winter months!
